Amelia Ditcham
Yoga teacher
I tried yoga as a new year's resolution seven years ago and discovered a life-changing practice. That first yoga high translated into a growing, explorative, regular practice across many different styles, and then 200hr teacher training in 2015 under world-renowned yoga teacher Bonnie Argo and sports physiotherapist Roz Penfold at SOULution Yoga School.
My teaching and intelligent sequencing in vinyasa brings smart depth, heat and accountability to your practice, balancing it with play, exploration, and always comes back to the breath. I am also very passionate about the complement yin and other energy-focused styles bring to a holistic practice. Yoga has given me a new compassionate space in my body and my life, and it is a joy just to share that wonderful feeling with others.
I am a Melbourne-based Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS), and ongoing recognised training.
This is an energetic style of yoga linking breath with movement, sequenced specifically towards peak postures to deepen your practice. Follow a smart and safe pathway to access postures through the families at the right level for your body at this time. It is a dynamic practice, which can see you reach more advanced postures, allowing you to progressively build your practice and strength.
The yin practice is a deeply restorative and supported practice, involving ground-based long holds focused on stretching your fascia and decompressing your joints. It is a calming style of yoga that targets your energetic systems as well as your connective tissues, inviting an increase to your body's natural range of motion and an opportunity for stillness. Yin can balance out the yang of the rest of your life, including other physical activity or more energetic styles of yoga.
I also teach other styles from a heat-building core-focused flow, to energetic restorative practices, to alignment-focused moderately paced classes focusing on the key principals of fundamental poses. From pranayama to specific anatomical alignment, I can offer a class to meet specific needs and goals.
One-on-one or small class sessions are a fantastic opportunity to focus on the areas of practice you are interested in. If you haven't practised before, or in a while, or you have particular goals in mind to strengthen your yoga, we can work together to develop a practice. Available one-on-one, or with your friends in small groups of up to three. Contact me to set up a chat.
Yoga classes in your workplace are an investment in your team's health and communication. One-off classes for a special event, or establishing an ongoing practice, are a great way to challenge and reward your team, as well as offering a bonding experience. I can teach in your workplace; contact me to discuss.
I also run community classes, special events, and other yoga things around town. Sign up to my email list to stay in touch.
